Outsider (Water) · SM -1 Ooze Mephit (Enraged Eggplant; answers SRD 3.5)

A dark, slick mephit of dense ooze and wet clay with fin-shaped ears and dripping teal wings. It smells appalling, it slips out of any grip, and it leaves behind a cloud thick enough to empty a room of everyone still able to walk.

Breath WeaponBreath Weapon (12): A 10-yard jet of caustic acid erupts from the mephit’s mouth. It uses Innate Attack (Breath) to hit. Don’t apply range penalties; treat this as a long melee weapon rather than a ranged attack. It does 1d corrosion damage, and has a 1/2D range of 5 yards. If any damage penetrates the target’s DR, he must make a HT roll, at -1 per 2 points of injury or suffer from moderate pain (p. B428) for (20 – HT) minutes as his skin and eyes burn and itch. This ability costs 1 FP to use.12A 10-yard jet of caustic acid erupts from the mephit’s mouth. It uses Innate Attack (Breath) to hit. Stinking CloudStinking Cloud (12): By spending 2 FP, a mephit may fill a two-yard-radius area with bad smelling smoke. This gives -3 to all vision rolls made through it. To place the cloud at a distance, he uses Innate Attack (Gaze), with normal range penalties, but at +4 for affecting an area. The initial attack roll places the effect. It then drifts from that point with the wind.12By spending 2 FP, a mephit may fill a two-yard-radius area with bad smelling smoke. This gives -3 to all vision rolls made through it. Description
Written by Dungeons on Automatic, released under cc_by_4_0
  • GCS ancestry draft: gcs/ooze-mephit.gct
  • Source template total: 71 points.
  • Library-rebuilt template total: 71 points.
  • CER was computed from parsed Typical Stats using the Dungeons On Automatic baseline CER path.
  • Issue #5: 0 special ability construction(s) restored and 1 annotated with the source's stated cost. 1 save-or-disable construction(s) are scored through the affliction term at the source's stated point cost, or at Binding ST where the source builds the ability as a Binding.
  • CER recomputed from the reviewed Typical Stats through the canonical Dungeons on Automatic CER path: OR 12, PR -4, CER 8, threat tier minor.
  • Conversion baseline reported OR 9, PR -4, CER 5 (tier minor). The reviewed values come from the consumer CER implementation, which rounds damage once after the damage-type multiplier and credits ranged accuracy; the conversion baseline ceilinged the damage base first and ignored range.
  • Encounter metadata derived (default): average number appearing 4, wandering weight 4. Encounter metadata derived for 0.2.0 from the reviewed threat tier and creature class (appearing: minor 4 / standard 2 / major 1 / severe 1, forced to 1 for solitary classes — including swarms, which are a single multi-body creature — and raised to 6 for gregarious minor creatures; wandering weight: minor 4 / standard 3 / major 2 / severe 1). The fan-conversion source states no appearing-in-numbers or wandering values, so these are derived, not source mechanics.
  • Lair, treasure, and grappling remain unpopulated in 0.2.0 by package policy: the authorized fan-conversion source states no lair, treasure, or grappling values, and review declines to invent them. See review/policy/0.2.0-empty-field-policy.md.
  • Description text is original Dungeons on Automatic prose written from this record's own converted statistics and from the project's art direction for the creature. It is not derived from the authorized fan-conversion source, which states no creature descriptions, and not from any SRD. It carries its own authorship and CC BY 4.0 terms in the description field. See review/policy/description-policy.md.
  • Review approved by automated-mechanical-review on 2026-07-26 (batch ee-2026-07-26-b4-special-mechanics); GCS fidelity check passed, DOA playability check passed.
  • Special-mechanics record. Mechanics the CER path cannot price are named per record in review/reports/cer-audit.md rather than folded into the number, and encounter counts are capped where a save-or-disable attack is present.
